Ecommerce Transaction Value Issue

Hi everyone,

I have issues seeing transaction values both in Google Analytics, but especially in Google AdWords. The support team from AdWords affirmed that the code is not implemented correctly which is causing the problem, but when comparing the instructions with the implementation we cannot find the error. Can someone please help and have a look?

I've attached the code here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/98g884x6acnzhlh/view-source_tandarts-new.omnisourcetech.com_checkout_24_co...

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

sorry but cannot read your attachment...

Have you followed these instructions:

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/6095947

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/6095821

Have you checked that the values that you pass to the tracking tag are in correct format (decimal separated with dot and no other separators)?

Since the error occurs in both products I suspect the flaw is somewhere with the values that are passed?

Did the AdWords team give you any hints about what was/could be the error?

Can you get some data or do you miss all the data?

Hi Antti,

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

We haven't checked yet if the values passed to the tracking tag are in the correct format as some transactions do have values attached. I did some additional digging and noticed the following:

In the case of the transaction IDs that don't have any values attached in the main "Transactions" report, when clicking on a particular transaction ID, values appear. In some cases the transaction value appears to be registered in two (or more) seperate dates:

- Main report: https://www.screencast.com/t/qGGmXaeO2K

- Specific Transaction ID view: https://www.screencast.com/t/Rs3sa4eugq

However this is not always the case:

- Main report: https://www.screencast.com/t/XeZWSSJj

- Specific Transaction ID view: https://www.screencast.com/t/Fo2gIUx6HAd2

I've archived the html file and uploaded to Dropbox, hope this time you can access it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lpyqf9r7fi78g5l/view-source_tandarts-new.omnisourcetech.com_checkout_24_co...

I haven't tried the AdWords conversion setup as we would like to have data for all other traffic sources as well, thus the only option being Google Analytics Ecommerce Tracking (correct me if I'm wrong). And no, the AdWords team said that they cannot offer support in this regard, so they didn't offer not even a hint with where the issue might be.

Thanks again!

I haven't linked AdWords with eCom data so can't really say how it works but at least it should be possible:

https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1034306?hl=en

So when we get this eCom data sorted you should be golden with AdWords too Smiley Happy

The screenshots only strengthen my suspicions that the values passed to the tracking code are incorrect. I recommend that you debug the information.

Okay Antti, I'll tell the developers to have a look at that aspect of the code (passing values). Thanks for the time!

Post back if you did not get it resolved.

You can pass this to the developers

https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/ecommerce

Few pointers that I have noticed repeating in other cases:

Transaction ID not unique

While listing products the transaction ID has been different than the transaction ID defined previously

Amount of parameters is fixed, if there is no information you must have ''

Using single quotes in the tracking code. Sometimes they have been replaced similar looking character

Using commas in any other point than separating the parameters.

List of parameters looks like this:

'id': '',                     // Transaction ID. Required.

'affiliation': '',   // Affiliation or store name.

'revenue': '11.99',               // Grand Total.

'shipping': '',                  // Shipping.

'tax': ''                     // Tax.

So only required is Transaction ID but without revenue it is kinda stupid...
But you must have all those in place even you are not using them. In addition
to this you must have all the order lines (products) and the info about them
recorded separately.
