Data Import Mismatched Tables

I am having an issue with our data pertaining to data import. I have checked our import files and there are no obvious errors on our end. What we are seeing is values getting assigned to the wrong dimension.

Example Data Import Values:

  • Key = cd40 = 58c98614e4b009e7f61b4e8b
  • Content Title = cd4 = Mass Effect: Andromeda Review
  • Article Type = cd7 = review
  • Publish Date = cd6 = 3/20/17

Example Report:

  • Key = cd40 = 58c98614e4b009e7f61b4e8b
  • Content Title = cd4 = review
  • Article Type = cd7 = (not set)
  • Publish Date = cd6 = 4872247

It looks like the columns have gotten jumbled on Googles end. Has anyone noticed a similar issue?

Tate,

I have not had this specific issue but have seen strange things if Excel ever touched a file and this sounds like an Excel corruption.

Some Questions:

I see that you have CD40 so do you still have GA Premium /360?  and If so, have you tried this as query time import?  Or is this an processed data?  Is hit data given preference and is it possible these values are being sent via the tracking code as well?

All that said, Data import can be wonky especially if excel is involved in any step.  You may want to try a text editor like Sublime Text to see if your file has artifacts and try a new file without a spreadsheet.

Best,

Hi Theo,

Thanks for the response. All of our imports are done as strings so I am not too concerned with excel corruption. We are using query time and have been running these imports for a year with no issue, so this issue cropped up yesterday. Trying to get support feedback, but no luck thus far Smiley Sad

Okay, good luck and you may want to double check your data set in Sublime
IF excel touched it. Smiley Happy
