Hi,

The Situation

sourcesite.cn is in a different domain from mainsite.com. However...

  1. sourcesite.cn is purely to generate traffic, it serves as a bridge to...
  2. targetsite.com in which registrations/purchases happen

The Problem

Although G. Analytics collects data from both sites inside the same property, and the referral exclusion list has also both domains, there still is something that needs a fix.

The Question(s)

Normally, the Source Site is where registrations/purchases happen, right? But in this case, the Target Site is where conversions take place. Does this situation change the code snippet in any aspect?

Is the {'allowLinker': true} not necessary in Source Site?

Source Site
ga('create', 'UA-XXXX-X', 'auto', {'allowLinker': true});
ga('require', 'linker');
ga('linker:autoLink', ['sourcesite.cn'] );

Target Site
ga('create', 'UA-XXXX-X', 'auto', {'allowLinker': true});
ga('require', 'linker');
ga('linker:autoLink', ['targetsite.com'] );

Thanks!

Hi,

Just swap sourcesite.com and targetsite.com in your codeÉ

Source Site
ga('create', 'UA-XXXX-X', 'auto', {'allowLinker': true});
ga('require', 'linker');
ga('linker:autoLink', ['targetsite.cn'] );

Target Site
ga('create', 'UA-XXXX-X', 'auto', {'allowLinker': true});
ga('require', 'linker');
ga('linker:autoLink', ['sourcesite.com'] );

Hope this helps.
