Hello all, my apologies if this has been covered. I haven't been able to find anything with a search. I'm not sure what keywords you professionals use.

I need help correlating referrals on domain A (traffic source, referral tags ("?ref=ad1")) to enhanced ecommerce sales on domain B.

Domain A is already collecting referral data. Domain B is already collecting enhance ecommerce sales data. How do I correlate the two?

User visits domain A, then exits via a Shopify buy button link which reports on Domain B enhanced ecommerce.

You can see how it works here: http://vibrolabs.com/order

I am very new to GA, so please be very explicit with your replies. Thank you!

Hi,

You need to set up cross domain tracking between your site and the shopify store to track the users across the domains. Both the site and the Shopify store needs to be tracked under the same property, now they are tracked under two different properties. You can use UA-33992242-4 on both, just change the GA setting in Shopify to this one. The old tracking code on the site has to be upgraded to Universal Analytics and modified to support cross domain tracking. The old tracking code on the site should be replaced with the code below:

<script>
  (function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
  (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
  m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
  })(window,document,'script','//www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');

  ga('create', 'UA-33992242-4', 'auto', {'allowLinker':true });
  ga('require', 'linker');
  ga('linker:autoLink', ['shopify.com']);
  ga('send', 'pageview');
</script>

The tracking code on Shopify is already configured for cross domain tracking, you don't need to change anything there.

As the next step in Google Analytics go to Admin -> Tracking Info -> Referral Exclusion List you need to add these domains:

vibrolabs.com

checkout.shopify.com

paypal.com

yourstore.myshopify.com

Hope this helps, let me know if you have questions.

I'm sorry, I just noticed that I made a mistake, I put another opening script tag instead of a closing tag, please see in bold above the correct tag. Let me know once fixed and I'll check your site to see if everything is OK.

Thanks for catching that, I missed it as well. Updated. Thank you.

I opted to use the *-5 property as it has more historical data. Just a heads up.

No problem. I see the *-4 tag on the site and the *-5 on shopify, can you please look into it?

Perfect. I checked and I can confirm that the session continues when moving from the site to the Shopify checkout pages.
