Banners / Images click tracking

Hello,

I’ve been struggling to get event tracking reports from my banners / images.  On the left hand side of my site I have advertising banners and I would like to track them how many people click on those banners. It is a wordpress website and I am using the plugin Google Analytics by Yoast. I have searched a lot  and I first tried doing it through goals but with no luck.

I then tried the following:

<a href="http://misterprakan.com" onClick="_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Banner', 'Click', 'misterprakan-side']);"><img src="http://ajarnrecruit.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mister.jpg" alt="misterprakan" /></a>

and I have also tired this:

<a href="http://misterprakan.com" target="_blank" onclick="ga('send', 'event', 'banner', 'Click', 'misterprakan-side');"><img src="http://ajarnrecruit.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mister.jpg" alt="misterprakan" /></a>

Nothing works

Hope someone can help

Thanks
Andre

Hi Ajarn :-)
Where do the advertising banners link to? External website(s) or internal pages within your own website?

Have you set them up to track accordingly within the plugin?
Under General settings you need to setup track outbound links and downloads as
If they are eternal links then the settings under Advanced need to be configured as required.
There is a FAQ/Guide available here: http://kb.yoast.com/category/43-google-analytics-for-wordpress

For further help specific to this 3rd party plugin,, the plugin's support thread on WordPress.org
can be located here:

Hi Bronwyn.

My advertising banners linked to external websites. I went into the plugin under settings. I have ticked where it says Track outbound click and downloads: and under advance it say there is an option for Custom code and I am not to sure what to put in there.

Thanks
