I got in too big a hurry and I posted the tracking id to my website and not the code that says copy and paste. Is there a way to fix this?

Depending on how your site is created, it may only need the tracking id.

To access the actual tracking code snippet for your site

Log into Analytics and click the gear icon at the lower left of the interface (it may also say Admin next to the icon)
Once on the Admin page..make sure to select the GA Account in the first/Account column drop down
And then select the GA Property from the middle/Property column drop down

and then below the middle column drop down click Tracking Info option to expand it,

then click the option that says Tracking Code.
Code snippet will appear on the right.
