3 domains, 1 tracking code: How to see each as different source?

Hello,

I have multiple domains, say www.A.com www.B.com and www.C.com for which I use the same tracking code (I know that this is generally not a good practice but let's say that I have to do it for reasons that I won't get in here).

The problem is this: when user follows a link from a page on www.A.com to a page on www.B.com (etc) the source appears as "(direct)".

Is there a way to make it so that each domain appears as the source for the other?

Thanks a lot for the help!

Wow...the problem is usually the other way around - people want to eliminate self-referrals :-))

Make sure the three domains are NOT listed in the Referral Exclusion List (Admin > Property > Tracking Info > ...). and that you have NOT installed multi-domain tracking code on your site:

Hi Andreas K,

I have questions why do you use the same tracking code for 3 different domain?

I think you need to read these articles:

https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1034342?hl=en

https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/cross-domain

https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/gaTrackingSite

but simpler will be using different tracking codes with params utm with external link, and events in outbound links.
