"Unable to load default URL" notification

Hi, in Google Analytics I have this notification:

Unable to load default URL http://website.com for websitename property. Make sure all parts of the URL are correct.

Default URL is correct and all monitoring functions seem to work correctly (I have tested this also with sample data submission). Some times the notification is marked as resolved, but after some time it repeats.

I have tried to remove my htaccess rules, but without improvements. I have also linked Google AdSense and Google Search Console and there isn't any error.
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Hi,
I prefer do not share page URL publicly, is there something else I can check?
Meanwhile I have tried "View as Google" function of Google Search Console and works correctly (my robots.txt blocks only one image resource).
Thanks.

When you visit the home page of the site, does it just load the domain name
eg http://www.yourdomain.com
or
does it automatically load the domain with like a directory http://www.yourdomain.com/somdirectory/
or page http://www.yourdomain.com/somepage.html or http://www.yourdomain.com/somepage
at the end of it?

From the linked article:
João Correia, Analytics Strategist at Blast Analytics & Marketing
When you create a Google Analytics account for website tracking, one of the first questions we ask is for a default URL. This is generally the homepage of your website. Diagnostics ensures that you have tagged your default URL correctly for this property, and warns you if this is not the case. Having a properly tagged website is an essential step towards being able to understand consumer behavior.

This warning is generally caused by either missing or malformed tracking code installed on your default URL, or more simply a typo in the URL that was input. If the default URL is incorrect, simply login to your Google Analytics account, click the “Admin” button in the header, and click “Property Settings” to adjust your default URL. If the tracking code is flawed, you’ll want to talk to your webmaster and ask to have the tracking code correctly installed.
Beyond the default URL, we also check for tracking code health across your site. We look for pages that have missing or malformed tags. And we continually run these checks, ensuring new pages you launch in the future also are properly tagged.

When I visit the homepage it just loads the domain name (http://mydomain.com) so I have used directly this URL for Google Analytics property. On the root folder of the website I have a simple installation of Wordpress (load directly an "index.php" page). I have integrated monitoring code on all pages and I have checked that is correct with developers tools of my browser (I can see the code without script errors).

I dont know anything about your WP setup however im wondering if there may be some kind of issue
with how WP has been installed and configured in relation to the the WP Address and Site Address
in the WP Admin Settings > General page. If you need help with that, you will need to seek help on the
support forum at wordpress.org

What method did you use for installing the tracking code on the WP installation?

Wordpress is configured correctly, I'm pretty sure about that. I have added the tracking code between <head> tags of all pages, I have edited directly my theme template. With developer tools I can see the tracking code in the source code of the page and all monitoring functions work correctly, only problem is the notification (that, sometimes, after clicking on "verify" is marked as "Solved").

Morning :-)
Ok.. so when you say:
"I have added the tracking code between <head> tags of all pages, I have edited directly my theme template."
, I'm taking that to mean you have added the tracking code snippet once, to the active theme's header.php file

I really don't know why it would keep recurring. I do know that sometimes the notifications can give false positives.
If you are sure its all setup correctly, you should have the option of clicking on the notification at the upper right and then clicking IGNORE
and then selecting to set it to IGNORE that particular notification for all time.

Yes, I have added the tracking code to header.php file. For the moment I have ignored the notification but can lead to malfunctions with monitoring functions?
I suspect that may be caused by some security configuration executed by my hosting company or my htaccess has something wrong....
Thanks.

Hi Bronwyn,

Actually I have the above situation. My website loads a subdomain.mywebsite.com

I have installed a separate tracking code (using GTM) because the entire subdomain resides on a separate CMS.

What do you think would be the solution?
