Hi there I update a school website in the UK and my website company who hosts the website for the school would like me to provide him with the Google Account which is linked to the school website so we can set up Google Analytics. We can see that the school website have a Google Analytics ID but but we don't know which account this has been linked to in the past.  People have come and gone and no one here in school remembers linking the website to google analytics.  How do I track back to the account using the ID?  ID: UA-55489051-1.

I have seen previous threads on this from 2 years ago -  I am confused as to why I would need to set up an Adwords Account?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Anna S

Hi Anna,

You'll need to complete the following steps to regain access:

1) Prove site ownership: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/7268497#prove

2) Contact Google: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/7217785

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Many thanks for your help.  We have completed the text file to confirm that we have ownership of the website and that we are the owners.

On the account retrieval form it asks for an "Adwords Account" - we are a non-profit organisation being a state secondary school here in the UK.  So why do we also need to set up an Adwords Account! that means we are liable to be charged for people clicking on the AD?  We do not need to advertise?

Please advise us how to proceed?
