Hi, the URL listed on the Google Analytics page that was sent to me for our site has the wrong URL. How do I get it fixed and get the correct data?
I've been trying to resolve this for quite a while.

Help!

Thanks!

Joan

Hi Joan,

Where do you see the wrong URL in Google Analytics?
To set the default URL for your property please go to Admin -> Property -> Property Settings -> Default URL field
To set your website URL for your view go to Admin -> View -> View Settings -> Website's URL field
Let me know if you have more questions.

Sorry to jump here but some of our URLs are not displaying correctly either.

When I look in Behavior/ site content/ all pages I see stuff like:

/2015/what-will-happen-when-thailands-king-bhumibol-is-gone/aecnewstoday.com

/2015/bomber-blame-game-sees-thailand-immigration-abruptly-change-visa-rules/aecnewstoday.com

/2015/adb-cuts-asean-2015-gdp-growth-forecast-by-10-2/aecnewstoday.com

As you can see the site name is tagging onto the end of the page URL.

I've spent hours trying to see where this is coming from, but with no success.

I've disabled any plugins that contain GA tracking code and it still appears.

Any suggestions on where to look?

Thank you

Can you check if there are any search replace filters added for the GA view.

Hi John,

Please check if you have your domain name added to Admin -> View -> View Settings -> Default Page field. If so, remove it and leave the field empty. Hope this helps.

Hi
GA Guru

There are no filters set.

Hi Arnold,
Thank you very much. I indeed did have my domain name where you indicated.
I have deleted it now.
The pages still show in GA though. Clicking on the outbound links returns 'page not found'.

Is there a way of testing if this has fixed this issue?

Should I go through GA and 301 all of those links? I feel I should.

Thanks very much

Hi John,

It will not fix the issue retroactively but your future data will be OK. Please check the fresh data in a few hours.

There is no need to redirect the incorrectly recorded links, they are only visible to you in GA.

Hi Arnold,
Please excuse the late reply. I was waiting for a couple of days to confirm the issue was resolved.

It was probably what was causing really high 503 errors in webmaster tools also.

We actually changed hosts and took our site off Cloudflare trying to see where the 503 errors were coming from.

The number of indexed pages fell dramatically.

Since making the change you recommended indexed pages have recovered to a three month high.

I hadn't seen your second reply about not needing to 301 the malformed URLs as I was 301ing the malformed URLs at the time Smiley Happy

Thanks very much, greatly appreciated (the new host is better anyway LoL)

John
