Remove Search Console Owner Verified by Google Analytics

Trying to remove a verified owner, verified by Google Analytics, in Search Console.

I removed the Edit permissions for the email address within Google Analytics.

Went into Search Console > Manage Property Owners > click Unverify

I then get the message that the owner cannot be removed because Google Analytics access still exists, even though it does not.

Anyone know how to successfully unverify a Google Analytics verified owner?

Hi :-)
1) Is there more than one tracking code present on the website that they may also have access to?

2) Did you log out clear all browser cookies and cache and then try to unverify them in search console?

I removed the Edit permissions for the email address within Google Analytics.

Maybe i am misunderstanding something, however if they are no longer meant to have read/analyze access (which is the minimum level of access one can have), then would it not make sense to remove the person's email from that GA account altogether at the GA Account level

Hi Bronwyn V, I have a similar problem to Kristin C where there is an unverified owner on my google search console.  I've tried to unverify the email unsuccessfully.  they have verified themselves on the console using a html code.  I verified using a meta name which I can find on the dashboard of my wordpress website.  I have logged out, cleared browsers and still have been unable to unverify them.  Do you have any other suggestions to get this hacker off my google search console?

Hi @ :-)

For them to verify themselves via html file, they would need ftp access to your website in order to upload the file to the root of the site.

To unverify them, remove the html verification file from your site (you will likely need to do it via ftp)

it will be a file with a file name in a format similar to the following googlerandomnumbersandlettershere.html

For further help with google search console that is not analytics related, best place to ask for assistance is on the Webmaster Central Help Forum

Thanks
Bronwyn
