Just getting started...

Just getting started can be a total frustration, or at least seem like it...

I have a website that has been live for nearly two years using proprietary software with the same company that provided me with my website address.

Registering for G A it is unclear what format one should use to obtain a code to identify with the website. It prompts the https......but should one use this or http......or just use www.....

The former is suggested but am not sure whether it is right for all users...?

I have religiously followed the instructions regarding c & p into the designated field called site settings but am not confident saving correctly, because when you click OK the code disappears.

Anyway at least 30 hours after I tried to set up G A reporting it is still not working. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi Hugh :-)
Not all platforms support Google Analytics.
What software/platform is the site built with?
Are you able to pls provide a link to the website so as one of us can take a look via browser, it often helps with troubleshooting.
