How to recover admin account for Google Analytics?

Hi

I am working with a client in a big firm that has lost their Admin logins for their Google Analytics.
We have access but only as user with no rights to change anything or add more users.
We dont just want to create a new account and add a new ID as we want and need access to the 6 year data of stats.

What can be done? Can we some how make a new admin ? Without having the Admin logins?
Can you we somehow merge the old stats data if we make a new ID and new account?

Please advice

thanks

Hi Thordur,

sorry to hear a client is having issues.

Sounds like you may need to try an account recovery.

There is a comprehensive post by Niall in the following thread on how to go about doing this
(its the one marked as best answer)

Thanks

Thanks! yes ver good info, they say we can add a file to root and then Google Online Specialist will wait and then approve ownership.
But how do i contact a Google Online Specialist to start this process? We have all access right to FTP and we host the website and so forth.

Hi :-)
You will need to create and Adwords account so as to have an adwords client/account number.
It does not need to be an active adwords account eg does not need to have any campaigns created or running.
You will then need to contact Adwords Support Specialists via one of the help methods available when you are logged
into the Account, usually available via the gear icon at the upper right.
