Help - Issues with access to analytics

Hello,

I am enquiring on behalf of the company I work for, we had an external marketing company looking after our Google Analytics a few years ago and we parted ways.  We now want to bring this in-house, however the external marketing company won't give us the login details for our account.  We have our Google number, but I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction of someone/department that could help with this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Miss T :-)

Do you currently have any access to the analytics reporting for the google analytics number that you have?

Hi @Bronwyn V

We don't.  We have a random email address (password unknown) for someone no one has ever heard of, and the external marketing company are saying they don't know who this person is either.  All we have is the analytics number.  Is there any way we can transfer the ownership from that email to another one and reset the password?

Thanks so much for the reply.

You could try to recover the account.
If the business does not have an adwords account already, one will need to be created, you need to be logged into the adwords account to access the necessary support options and provide the adwords account id to support.

There is a comprehensive post by Niall in the following thread on how to go about the account recovery process
(its the one marked as best answer)
https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/AdWords-Tracking-and-Reporting/Regaining-access-to-your-Go...

The process is not guaranteed.

Just because there is a tracking id and an email address in existence, does not mean the actual analytics account and its data still exists.

Unfortunately it's the same account details for out adwords as well.

Is there any way we can close down the current accounts for both and open new ones? We aren't worried about losing the historical data, we are more concerned that we take back admin rights for both.

Thanks again

A new google analytics account can be created via a different google account.
The tracking code on the website would need to be swapped out with the new one.

I would use the same google account to create another adwords account, the adwords account

doesnt cost anything to create and does not need to have any setup or running campaigns,

it is just need in order to access support.

As for getting back admin rights to the adwords and/analytics, it may (or may not) be doable.
