Different tracking code ID on Google Analytics and on the website

Hello,

I recently took the management of a GA account for a charity. I was amazed by the pages views (I mean "the links/webpage addresses") because it is not those of the charity website.

I verified the tracking code on GA and the tracking code on the website. Unfortunately, they are different!

I discussed with our central IT team. They verified the analytics in the master GA (every websites of the local charities are "linked" to a central one with a super admin team). Of course, they see the charity's analytics as they have the right tracking code.

My question is: how could I recover the access to the GA account with the right tracking code ? I assume that the tracking code can't be changed, so I guess I don't have access to the right GA Account. Am I right ?

I just don't want to loose all the stats by changing the tracking code on the website. Should I launch a procedure with Google to recover the access to the GA account ? In fact I would like to be sure my guess about having access to the wrong GA account is true before doing anything!!

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

Someone who has manage users rights on the property can grant you access.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I have all the rights on the GA account for the charity. The IT team access to the analytics through a Master GA account but does not have our login/password.

I think the login/password I have are not the good one. I just remenbered that six months before my arrival at the charity, a migration has been done by some volunteers. It is possible that they had to change the tracking code during the migration. If so, they may have the access to the good GA account. I think I see the analytics of the old archives! But I am not a specialist so I don't know if it makes sense!!!

Hi,

If you know the UA-ID you can try to regain access:

You'll need an AdWords account to gain access to support options.
