Cannot Associate Search Console and Analytics

Greetings,

Though I am the owner of all sites in our GA account, after 6/22/2016 I have been unable to associate my search console data with the GA property.

Now, when I click the Manage Property dropdown, I no longer see the Google Analytics selection there.

What has changed?

Michael

Hi A F,

Thanks for posting.

My first question is whether anyone else uses your GA account and how much they have in permissions? If there are others you may want to ask them if they made any particular changes recently.

Another option is to access GA if you have AdWords linked. Information on how to do that can be found here:

https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009692?hl=en

If neither of those work please give me some details as to any recent changes to the GA account that you might recall. Snapshots might help as well but please be sure to leave out your private information.

Best,

Shannon

Hi, Shannon,

ONe other person accessed the accounts recently to add another view, but that's all. They may no other account changes.

This morning I was able to associate one of our accounts. However, I went to associate another and received the same error message:

Hm. Something isn't right. We're checking into it now.

When I attempt to adjust the search console from Analyticts --> Property Settings, I get a message that I don't have Edit permissions on this Analytics account. Yet, I DO have Edit permissions.

Help!

Michael

Hi A F,

Thanks for the follow up.

A snapshot of the Property Settings console might help. Just be sure to remove any private information, like emails and such.

In the meantime here are three possible solutions that come to mind:

1. Clear out your cookies and cache. This should take only a few minutes to do. Instructions on how to do so are here:

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/32050?hl=en&rd=1

2. Ask the other person to check your edit permissions on their account and give you full editing permissions. If you need to know how to do that this link is helpful:

https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009702?hl=en

3. You can contact support to recover your account:

https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/AdWords-Tracking-and-Reporting/How-to-gain-access-to-your-...

If none of these possible solutions work get back to me and I will assist you further.

Best,

Shannon

I am experiencing the same issue. As of the last few weeks this hasn't worked for any of the sites I try to add. We're a large agency so we add sites frequently. I've tried adding from Analytics and also from Search Console. Neither works. Analytics says I do not have edit privileges (I do since I am the one creating the GA accounts), search console says there is an error.

Sorry to hijack the thread. If you want me to open a new one I can.
