The bounce rate of the site that I work for went from 59.98 percent to 8.82 percent. The bounce rate is now steady at 7-8 percent which seems impossible (especially since we have 87% of our traffic come from refferal traffic ( displays ads and new visitors). Can anyone help me find out how this happened.

Hi Gaurav,

This is usually caused either by two instances of the Google Analytics Tracking code or firing an interaction event on page load.

Have you checked for these?

Maria,

Check for two instances of the GA tracking code and any events that are firing on page load -- if you have events like this, change them to non-interaction events.

If you have two instances of the GATC, remove one. Smiley Happy

In case you have 2 instances of GATC, the traffic would be reported double as well, right?

Hi Divakar,

Not necessarily.  Usually what you will get is a somewhat accurate user and session count but double pageviews.

It has no affect on the site it just destroys your GA data.   Smiley Sad
