Bad default url?

Our default URL is: http://csps-efpc.canwebcast.net.  The pages we wish to track are extensions of this URL such as:

http://csps-efpc.canwebcast.net/2016-02-11ARMDI

Why am I getting error code: Bad default URL?

Hi RV :-)
When the url is entered be sure there are no additional or empty characters at the end
Also be sure not to enter http:// into the provided field as there is a selection drop down
immediately before the url field to select http or https

I had no issue creating a test property using your given url

Thanks Bronwyn, I didn't experience any issues with creating the property, it's when I check on the reporting that I see the bad default URL error code at the top right of the analytics page. Ultimately, we are getting very little traffic reported compared to our Master account which tracks all of our client activities.

Hi :-)
http://csps-efpc.canwebcast.net/
gives a 403 access denied error

Does the site you are trying to track reside/default/redirect to a particular subdirectory?
If so, then you will need to adjust the website url to reflect that

You also need to take into account (if necessary) multiple tracking codes and if the tracking
snippet has been adjusted for it.

How do I adjust the website URL to reflect that we are tracking several subdirectories on a daily basis?
Example: http://csps-efpc.canwebcast.net/2016-02-11ARMDI

Hi Can W :-)
Does the site have a homepage in the root directory or are there just the subdirectories?
If there is no homepage and only the subdirectories, then I would simply select the option to
dismiss the diagnostic msg

Hi,

I have the same issue. I have a test site which is password protected. http://www.saffronmarigold4444.com, after I enter password, the page loads fine, but I got "Bad Default URL" message. Is this because the site needs password to get in?

Please help, thanks.
