Hello,

Do we need to add the HTTPS version in Google Analytics as well? We have added in HTTPS version in webmaster but how do we add the same in Analytics? If we add a new property we get a new tracking code which will be replaced by exiting code, does the existing data will go away as well?

I see drop in  referral traffic after updating the site,

Does the site redirect/default to the https version of the domain name?
If so, then you need to change the website url in the Property Settings page and the View page from http to https and
then adjust the link to webmaster search console so that it is linking to the https version in search console.

You have one site is that correct?
It should redirect to https
Change the website url in the Property Setting and View Setting page
so it is https instead of http - click where it says http, its a drop down, change it
by selecting https instead

And after that I will miss all signals from webpages which are on http yet?

No, http to https is fine.
https to http will not send referral information to the http site,
unless the referring site is setup specifically to do so eg like facebook for instance

Thank you Bronwyn!
I also guess, if a property set to https and a view to http - will it work? I mean, properly.
Anyway, how it works together - different protocol for propwety and view?

The view will still report data.
It's the tracking id that ties the tracking to the property reports
Reports do not report the domain etc. .. they only report the Request URI in
the Behaviour > Content reports and similar

Hello, so your are saying to link the GA property to the new https property in Search Console?

The new Search Console Property is empty so will the old linked data remain? Not sure how to phrase this or if it's relevant.

Thank you
