[HELP] Tag Assistant: Not Detecting AdWords Conversion Code and AdWords Remarketing Error

Hi Folks,

Anyone experienced these issues with Tag Assistant and GTM?

1. AdWords Conversion Code not being detected by Tag Assistant. It does not show at all in the tag analysis results. When I preview and debug using GTM, it was there and working.

2. After I implement the AdWords Remarketing code via GTM, I am having this error

Conversion ID not set in the tag.

I don't see any similar case from the community.

When I implement both AdWords Conversion and Remarketing Tag via GTM, I get this (see screenshot) via Tag Assistant. Is it possible that Tag Assistant detects the AdWords Conversion as Remarketing?

Hi Allen,

You need to edit the tag via GTM.

Admin >> Container Activity >> Click the remarketing tag(text in blue).

Now you are able to edit the tag.

Paste the conversion ID and Lebel from the adwords account within Configure Tag edit panel.
Save Tag.

Hi Archit,

Thanks for the reply. I already have that set up. Except for the Remarketing Label since when I got the code, there is no label provided. The remarketing tag looks like this.

So I set it up this way, no labels

This seems to be correct. And you are absolutely right there is no lebel mentioned in remarketing tag. Might be due to code updated by Google.

But your second screenshot imparts that it is placed correctly.
Check your adwords account Audiences tag, remarketing list might be having some number.
If yes then it is working fine.
Though you can remove the other remarketing tag from the website which is not working(in Grey colour)

The AdWords account is connected to Google Analytics and Remarketing List is enabled. I checked it and it already generated thousands.. I just don't get why Tag Assistant is detecting errors. Also I can't see the AdWords Conversion Tracking

Better if you can share the website URL.

I can see that there are two remarketing tags which have been created from the GTM account(same GTM code)
One is already working fine but other is not.
So, remove the not working remarketing tag.
Check your tag list again, there must be another remarketing tag in the list(under the activity "created") which you need to remove.
*the tag which is available with the error may be with some other name rather than Adwords Remarketing.
It may may simply as remarketing or may be with postfix "1".

Hi Archit,

I've checked it very well and there is no 2 instances of the remarketing tag. I tried removing the remarketing tag but Tag Assistant still detects the error. I also tried removing the AdWords conversion but to no avail.

Tag Assistant detects two remarketing tags when I put the AdWords Conversion tracking. I am thinking Tag Assistant sees the AdWords Conversion as Remarketing Tag that is why we see two instances of the tag. AdWors Conversion and AdWords Remarketing have the same ID right?
