We were so exctied we messed up :(

Firstly let me say we are so grateful for this opportunity.

We had been told that our Adwords Grant had been approved but we were still seeing the "please complete billing information" ... we were so excited to get started we rushed past the BOLD-highlighted-everywhere instructions to NOT include a credit card on our account and added one.

How do we remove the credit card info and keep our approved status?

We need to get rolling ASAP.

Thanks for your help Smiley Very Happy

Peter

Unfortunately, you cannot remove the billing information. You will have to create a new account and submit that one instead. You can download AdWords Editor and use that to copy the old campaigns and paste into the new one.

Really? That means the long and slow approval process. Granted it's our own stupidity doing this. How doe we get the approval sped up because we've already been granted it before?

The approval process is not long and slow. In many cases it is less than 24 hours these days. You could set up the new account tonight and likely have it approved by tomorrow. Just remember to follow the account creation guide step by step.

Thanks Robert. Can we re-use the same gmail email address for the new AdWords account?

Hi Mercy S,

As for using the same gmail email address for the new AdWords account, it can be done but it will take a few steps since you will need to UN-associate that email address from the old AdWords account.

Here are the steps you will need to take (note: it is easier than it looks - it is just a bit time consuming.)

1) Create a NEW email address to use with the OLD AdWords account.

2) Have the OLD email address invite the NEW address to access the OLD account. Set the NEW email up as an administrator.

3) Have the NEW email address then revoke access of the OLD email address.

4) The OLD address has now been unassociated from the OLD AdWords account and can be used to set up the NEW AdWords account following the steps exactly as outlined in the Grants Account Creation Guide

I recommend using two separate browsers or if you use Chrome (recommended) opening one of the Google accounts up in an 'incognito' window.

Lastly here are some additional links to help you in the process:

  • Learn how to use AdWords Editor to download a copy of your existing AdWords account.
  • Learn how to move the content of your first account into a different account.
