Unable to get through Google for Nonprofits application

Hello!

I'm looking to apply for an Ad Grant for our 501(c)(3) organization but am unable to get through the Google Nonprofit application process. I'm continually getting a "We were unable to verify the charity status of your nonprofit organization." error although I've confirmed we're listed in the IRS's database of charitable organizations. Our EIN is <edited by a Community Manager as noted below>.

Any help would be appreciated - thank you!

Daniil.

Hi Daniil K,

Welcome to the community.

Chances are, you will want to update your information in Guidestar. It seems that the link to your website is broken there and since the system checks for a working website this could be the issue. Fix that and then reapply. Instructions on how to update your Guidestar report can be found here: http://www.guidestar.org/ManageNonprofitReports.aspx

Also, feel free to edit your post and remove your EIN to keep personally identifiable information safe.

PS - I am based in Snoqualmie and not far from Kirkland. If you ever want to get together for coffee and chat about the industry, let em know.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the response! I've taken a look and our Guidestar report is fully up-to-date and the website link from there is working from my end. One thing that it could be is that we only showed up in the IRS Pub 78 database in the latest batch (updated on Monday) so maybe it'll take some time to show up in the Google Grants database? Not sure what the timeframe is on that.

Sounds good, will do!

Thanks,

Daniil.

Your link pulls up as https//charitymint.org and is missing the ":" - some browsers may correct and resolve the link but a system check will show it as a broken link.

Google uses the Guidestar database for verification of all US-based charities. Due to the volume of applications this initial qualification check is done by the system automatically and the system is not finding a valid website (which is a requirement.)

Strange - I'm not seeing it, the link properly includes the ":" when I access our nonprofit report on Guidestar. In case the "https://" prefix in our URL was breaking something, I've removed it and will try reapplying again once the next 24 hour period passes.

Thanks!

Daniil.

Hi Daniil,
For me, your visible web address does show up correctly but right clicking on the link to 'copy link address' captures the following: http://https//charitymint.org

I hope this helps, I know it can be difficult to track down when it is showing up differently on your screen.

Our URL was updated in Guidestar and is the correct one now, but unfortunately we're still getting an "unable to verify charity status" error when reapplying.

Anything else we could try?

Thanks,

Daniil.
