Can I setup a non profit organizations account in my MCC (without billing) then link them so they can apply for the Google Ad Grants?

Hi Van G,

We have a grants specialist kicking around here somewhere but I'll give you my suggestions as well.

Create the account separate from the MCC. From what I understand, regardless of who is managing the account, the grantee will still need to log in to the account to conform to the activity requirements etc...

Creating the account outside of the MCC will not stop you from linking it to the MCC once the grants account is approved etc...and it will provide the grantee direct access to the account.

Hope this helps!

Is it ok to setup a gmail account for the client to associate their Adwords Account to for ad grants. Client has two left thumbs (regarding computers) and they do not to want to use a current email address that has been used for personal stuff as well as business? They may be able to setup a new email account at their organizations domain but when that happens or my ability to access ma be limited as I help them.

Hi Van.

Absolutely - there is nothing wrong with setting up a gmail account for adwords use. It actually makes perfect sense. You can then provide the email credentials to the client so they can access the account once you're all set up.

Hi Van,
Welcome to the forum.

Yes, you can go ahead and set the account up within the MCC first and then invite the admin once it is completed - just like a normal AdWords account. However, this can be a bit tricky if you are not familiar with the proper settings for a Grant account. For many users, it is best to follow the steps in the Ad Grants Account Creation Guide which includes a special direct link for Grant account set up.Tommy makes an important point in his post about the importance of the organization logging in to the account that you set up for them, this is a requirement of the Grant, so make sure they have the ability to do that easily. Often a dedicated Gmail account as you and Tommy discussed is a good way to go.

Regarding the new Gmail account, just make sure that it is set up with a forward to the person in the organization who will be responsible for replying to emails from the Ad Grants team. Because if the emails go unanswered it could result in a loss of the grant.
