Most days: Your ads are not showing - your account is under review

Hi,

We have successfully had an AdWords grant for three years and are compliant.

After getting Google Nonprofit emails about optimization, in November we began a planned optimization program to get our numbers up and we began regularly getting the message:

"Your ads are not showing because your account is under review (we periodically review accounts for security purposes and to verify billing information), which should be complete in about 2-3 business days."

When I Googled this, the suggestion is that once you get the message don't make any more changes to your account for the 3 days or it will start the timer again.

However, we began to observe that it is happening to us all of the time.

We wait three days until the notice is gone – make a couple of optimization improvements in keywords or whatever, and the notice comes back the same day.

Is this normal?

How can we do the optimization work recommended by AdWords for nonprofits?

I tried searching in this forum - but couldn't find anything relevant. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Tim Magee

Hi Tim,
This is really more of an AdWords review than an Ad Grants review. The review is common and happens to all accounts one time or another. Admittedly, it does happen to some accounts more than others. I, myself, have accounts that this happens to (both Grant and "regular" AdWords accounts) and I have had some accounts get tapped for the review multiple times in a month, then go years without another such review.

So yes, this is normal. And yes, you can go ahead and make changes to the account during this time - just know that those changes will not run until the account is out of review and "live" again.

@Tim M;

My assumption a keyword or an ad-text triggers a review.

Let me ping here our grants specialist ,

Thanks for your reply Robert!

The message suggests calling since this is an AdWords thing.

Thanks Moshe,
I might call and see if I have inadvertently written something in a ad that is triggering this.

Hello Tim!

I have just found this discussion and I would like to know how you did resolve your issue. I have exactly the same problem and as well with Google Grant account which I would like to pass to Grants Pro! But I do not manage to spend the budget beacuase of this notifications. I contacted Adwords but they told me that everything is OK ad we should just optimize our campaigns.
Could you help me? Thank you and have a nice day!!

Hi Kaci,

Resolved: Yes and no.

This review thing continues to happen every couple of days. I did a support chat (just after this thread ended). The chat guy said that the ads were indeed showing. So I walked away from the chat feeling that the "Your ads are not showing - your account is under review" is an error and that the ads are showing.

I also thing the ads are showing because the 'counter' keeps racking up clicks and impressions throughout the day.

You can check that out too on your account. You can also try a chat.

That said, it is frustrating that when it says 'your account is under review', you can't read the information that is normally in that little cell if you are trying to decide whether to keep a keyword or rewrite an ad.

There are all sorts of little clues if you hold your cursor over the little bubbles in the status column. Like if the bid is too low, or another ad is already showing this keyword.

And when the error message is showing - none of that information is available.

Another clue that the 'your account is under review' is an error is that I have seen over time that it shows up inconsistently: it shows up under some ads but not others.

So, check it out and you might find that indeed your ads are actually showing.

I'm going to apply for GrantPro at the end of this month - wish me luck!

Tim

Hello Tim and thank you so much for your reply!

Adwords are investigating our account, because clearly our account is
blocked and shows no ads after this message occures. So I can see no more
impressions, no more clics.. So impossible to spend the daily budget of 329
USD!
To see the rapport by hour I go to the section of rapports and I check the
rapports predefined by hour.

I will let you know how we advanced with our case! Good luck to you!!!!

Best regards, Kaci
