Google grants bid strategy issue

Google grants community,

I am working with a nonprofit that receives a Google adwords grant. I have been trying to create a new campaign bidding strategy, and the adwords platform repeatedly says that is has failed to create new bidding strategy, and to please try again. The bidding strategy I was attempting to create followed all of the guidelines for a bid strategy for a nonprofit grants recipient (no bids over two dollars, etc).  I have looked in the help resources and on various forums with no success so far. Please let me know if any of you have encountered this issue before, and if you have any ideas for resolving it.

Thanks,

Is the new setup you are attempting similar to existing or quite different?

Different. I currently have a manual bidding strategy in place, and am attempting to put in an automatic bidding strategy optimizing for clicks with a maximum CPC.

Correction. The proper term is flexible bidding strategy, not automatic bidding strategy

I asked our guy running grants and he did not have an answer - good luck
I will follow thread with interest for an answer too.

Hi @Alex M

You are required to use the following settings:

  1. Type: Choose Search Network only.
  2. Networks: Uncheck the box next to "Include search partners".
  3. Locations: Choose where you want your ads to show.
  4. Languages: Choose what languages you want people who will see your ads to speak.
  5. Bid strategy: Click I'll manually set my bids for clicks.
  6. Default bid: Choose $2.00 USD or less.
  7. Budget: Choose $329 USD or less. You will have $329 USD to use across all of your campaigns.

If your campaign does not follow the rules above, you will get an error.

I just read another question like this, and the bidding strategy to use is Standard, not All Features.

Hi @Hoang P

Yes, the PDF version of the account creation guide will recommend that you use the "Standard" set up. This is because it is the easiest and most straight forward set up. Where as the "All Features" setting is for more advanced users.
