Can't access non-profit account

Hello,

We applied for the Google for Nonprofits programme and were instantly elibigle for the various options including adwords. We started that process but at the point of ticking that we'd set adwords to USD etc. we closed the browser down and can't get back to it.

From the first step (Google for Nonprofits application), we received a confirmation email to say it would take 3 days and a link to check status - however our browser led us onto confirm we had been approved.  Now when we login to the link https://www.google.com/nonprofits/account/home it's asking us to apply again showing us a page like this:

"Start a new application for my organisation registered in:

Do we need to reapply for non-profit status?  Or wait 3 days?  How can we get back to completing the Adwords tick boxes on the non-profit site?

Incidentally we have completed the Adwords set up as per all the requirements and created our first ad.

Thanks

Sam

Sam,

There could be a couple of things going on. If you received a confirmation email, then you are in the system. If you try to reapply again, it will likely tell you that there is already an account set up under your Charity ID (in the US that would be your EIN).

Double verified that you are signing in with the correct Google account. This is the number 1 issue that users run into since they often have a personal Google account that they use the majority of the time and also the business Google account that they used to set up the Google for nonprofits account. You can often check this simply by checking to see which email address. Your confirmation email went to. This will also be the same address with your approval email will go to. If you do not receive it in the next 3 days then there might be something else going on so feel free to follow back up here.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your speedy reply. I see what's happened now. We had an old Adwords account set to GBP as currency on my main email address - and unknowing this would be an issue we started the application for non-profits on the same email address.

Of course, we then realised the Grant Application needed to link to an Adwords account with USD and no billing info. Having started the application on main email (let's call it 'myemail') we decided to try and shift the existing adwords account onto EmailB. We assumed this would get rid of the Adwords account onto the new email - but actually it's updated our whole application to EmailB - i.e. not the email we wanted and it still has it linked to an Adwords account with billing info and GBP!

Can you set our application back to the original email address (therefore with the correct Adwords account)?

Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,
Unfortunately, there is no resetting of email addresses by Google. Any changes to email addresses would have to be done by yourself.

Please understand that the Google for nonprofits account and your Google AdWords grant account can be under two separate logins. Updating one does not update the other.

For the Google for nonprofits account, if you used email B and would like to use email A then you will have to fill out the application again, for email A to be an administrator. Email B, the current administrator, would have to approve the administrator requests of email A. Essentially, this will set up both A and B as administrators on your Google for nonprofits account.

For AdWords, there are a few more steps since an email address can only be associated with one AdWords account, as such, you will need to un-associate your old email address from your old AdWords accounts to be able to use the old email address with a new AdWords account. To do this:
1) Create a new email address. (email C)
2) Set the new email address up as an administrator of your old AdWords account.
3) Have your new email address revoke access to your old email address.
4) You can now use your old email address to set up your new Grants account.
5) Keep your old account - just in-case you want to use it as a paid account in the future for doing display ads or remarketing.

Hi Robert. We are facing the same problem, we applied for Ad Grants using an Egyptian Non-profit but whenever we try to login to the /nonprofit account we are being asked to reapply. Is Egypt not yet qualified for the rest of nonprofit benefits?

Hi Muhammad,
Your situation sounds a bit different than what Sam had posted. So that the team can keep track of issues could you please post in a new thread? And also provide a bit more information and let me know the URL of where you are applying. Thank you.
