Tips for passing Google Analytics test?

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

Hello,

I've failed the Google Analytics test a couple of times now.  It's frustrating.  I do well on all the Study Guide assessments, and I feel good going in to the exam.  The problem is the exam covers a lot of stuff that doesn't appear in the Study Guide assessments.

Any suggestions to how to better to prepare for the G. A. exam?  I hate failing.  I've put a lot of time into this and I want pass this exam.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hello Bruce,

I understand where you are coming from taking the time to study and coming up short can be frustrating. What I think helps the most is getting inside the system and testing everything you can, check every link and tool to better understand the system, then dive back into study and press go you should be ready to pass, there are sevarl questions from memory that talk about the system so maybe spending time there will help you get the scores needed to pass. Don't give up, it sounds like you are just shy of getting the grade you need.

If you haven't done so I would run through the Digital Analytics Fundamentals and Platform Principles courses to get more info into the system and test.

You might also find some sites that have sample questions that could help you get more prepared. I searched "google analytics test study guides" and found a few sites that seem to have good tips & guides.

Hang in there & good luck on the next PASS, please come back after the next go and share the outcome.

Hey Spencer,

Thanks for answering my question and thanks for the encouragement. It was
the second time I failed the test and this time it was by one(!) question.

I just felt that, since I did so well on the assessments in the study area,
I'd be better prepared for the test. Anyway, I'll keep studying the
material. This time I wrote questions down on paper, while I was taking
the test, that I didn't fully understand and will go back and research more.

I have gone through the 4 training modules for the G.A. exam.

When you refer to "the system", you are talking about spending time in my
Google Analytics account learning to create reports, goals, filters, etc.,
correct?

I hope to post here soon that I have passed the test and become certified
in Analytics.

Thanks again,

Bruce Paulson

Hey Bruce, Sorry for the slow reply, fell off the inter-web over the weekend. The one question miss, I feel you that can seriously be frustrating but you are sooo close. I understand about the study materials at times we have it all down and it's one question about the platform that throws us off. Yes about the system, naming takes its own direction sometimes. I have high hopes that this next run is the one, last year the video test was giving one of my employees the same issue and persistence prevailed. Keep us posted on the next round, and remember you got this! Have a great day/week and nail that exam!

Hi Bruce,

if you spoke german, you could take a look at my "the perfect GAIQ preparation guide" and you would pass with 68/70 questions, I think.
I'm still working on the english one to post it on my english blog, so one possibility is, that you stay patient, the other one is that you take a look at Darryl's YouTube recording:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T_TI5oPDI0

He got 67/70 possible points and he only missed one question, which he answered correctly in a variation earlier in the exam.

Two question CAN'T be answered correctly, because you'll have to take the wrong answer to get the point!

You don't believe me?

I got 70/70 points, just because I tested EVERY question and took the exam 60(!) times to find out, because it could have been any question.

Only because someone who knows someone who knows someone at Google, he got an immediate response, while I got nothing.

Here's what they said:

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention! It looks like there were
some technical issues on our end that caused the incorrect answer to be
designated as correct for some of those questions.
I am working on fixing this with our team and it should be resolved soon."

"Technical issues" *cough* *cough* Yeah, of course, guys...and nobody's testing exam's integrity and nobody's playing it through, huh? Why testing, when you can get a lot of frustrated beta testers aka wannabe GAIQs?

So, perhaps, they "solved the technical issues" and the "right" right answers will grant you 70/70...good luck!

Shall I post it here, when I'm done with my blog post in english?

Best regards

Arne (from Mölln, near Hamburg, Germany, Europe, just a hop over the pound)

P.S.: It's a shame and a pity that there's NO Google Analytics Refresher Hangout (don't come me with this one, because it ISN'T!), while there are zillions of EXCELLENT Refresher Hangout for the AdWords exams, updated almost every six months, in long, middle and short versions, even in german!

Avinash aka God (one God, not that God!) once asked in his famous talk at the MozCon 2011(!):

WHY CAN'T WE MAKE MORE MONEY?

It's because Google itself treats Google Analytics like a stepchild.

You can become a 5pecialist (in Germany, Austria and Switzerland it's now called AdWords expert), but you don't have to take the Google Analytics exam!

How could a marketer, an Adwords specialist measure the success of his/her efforts without such a tool?

Analytics certification should be the foundation, the requirement you need to be allowed to take the AdWords fundamentals exam.

Hi thank you. I have looked at your posting and thankfully can translate to German. I appreciate the help!

Hi Diane,

I suppose you meant "translate to english" as it is written in german?
It would be great if it was helpful.
And if it was helpful, it'd be great to considering giving a star for the answer, even when it's still in german.
It will be soon available in english...just like all the other AdWords exams, but there's a lot of material which doesn't exist especially for this exam.

Best regards

Arne

Yes it was very helpful. I just used Google translate to get the "gist" of it. And thank you for your hard work.
