Partner certification, spend and Google Ad Grants

# 1

Hello.

I'm going the route of getting certified.

Reading the guidelines I see that my Manager account must have:

  • At least US$10,000 (or local currency equivalent) in total AdWords spend over the last 90 calendar days.

All my clients are non-profits using Google Ad Grants, will this still count towards my certification?

Cheers for any advice!

Hi @Jason K,

Sorry for the confusion. Molly has to be mistaken as I verified it... and Robert Coats is our Ad Grants specialist for Google Partners. You can take what he stated to the bank. No matter what you see with the spend bar, it will not go towards the badged Google Partners program.

Yes, rules changed a few times this year alone. If one thing you can count on... it's the rules changing.

With that said, it is still a great idea to get certified and stay involved with Google Partners. One day you may add a single client outside of the Ad Grants system and have what you need to be a badged Google Partners.

These are some of the advantages that will enjoy when you do become a badged Google Partner

All the Best,

James

Hi @Jason K,

It has been verified by Google in the past that ad spend from Google Grants does not apply to the badged Google Partners system. You have to have actual spend from clients outside of the Grants program.

Kind Regards,

James

James, thanks for letting me know.

Looks like I'd be wasting my time becoming a partner, because I only work with non-profits and they'll all be using Grants.

Hello @Jason K,

I also manage Google Non Profits Ad Grants and strongly recommend you get certified.

Here is a help article to state ad spend toward partner status.and ad spend requirements.

Thanks,

Molly

Thanks Molly. I just logged into the partners dashboard and today it's showing some spend, so looks like you're absolutely right.

Cheers for the reassurance, good to know it's worth the effort.

To be clear. Ad Grants spend is NOT to be used to meet Partner certification. This is direct from the Ad Grants team.

Well this is all getting a bit contradictory.

Seems unfortunate that a partner can't specialise in Ad Grants.

And here's the odd thing. I know someone who did exactly that. Maybe the rules changed at some point.
