New Google Plus Look Means No More About Section

I just noticed with the new Google Plus look (Nov 2015) that the "Story" section where you had a tagline and introduction text on the Google Plus pages is gone.

You can still see this section in classic view, but when choosing the new look all that information is gone. Is there somewhere that references all the new changes explaining why this section on a page has been taken away?

Example for my business page:

Sorry maybe I worded that wrong - the post I linked to is where Google is kind of clear that their focus for G+ is more to do with users & their interests (like photographers). I don't think Google is going to be using G+ as a place for businesses much in the future so I'm not surprised that they stripped off a ton of information off the pages. This information still exists! It's just on Google Maps and Google Search, not Google Plus.

The "page" I would start directing customers to is this one: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Naturality+Wellness+Centre/@51.761996,-0.564476,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!...

Hey Gary,

Google didn't necessarily state why they removed certain features but did highlight that the direction they are going in is featuring both collections and communities. You can see the post here: https://googleblog.blogspot.ca/2015/07/everything-in-its-right-place.html

I think Google is separating the Google Plus product from Google My Business which is more tied to Google Maps.

Hi Gary,

FYI there still is an about page of sorts. It's hidden behind the very subtle i icon. And only shows contact info now.

The post Joy linked to does not go into the Local changes at all.

I did a big post that was totally focused on the impact this change had on Google Local pages.

In summary, reviews, images, descriptions and categories are all gone. And the "about" tab is gone now,  replaced by the i icon.

However a friend of mine that's a member here too, said he talked to Google and was told some G+ features will be coming back, including Local features. So we'll see.

Important to note, this is just a Pilot or Beta version. Not the finished version. So leave feedback with any issues/recommendations because they are listening and users can help shape the final version. (Sort of like what happened when the New Maps came out.)

The "i" icon is gone.

We use the community as an online classroom. We use the Links as a quick guide to other websites necessary for our class.

How do we get the "i" icon back?

Hi Christine,

I'm sorry - is your question about a problem with your Google local page (Maps listing)? It sounds like it might be more about using Communities in Google+. If this is the case, then I recommend asking your question in the Google+ Help Community: https://plus.google.com/communities/115758385206378551362 where the experts in this kind of issue hang out.

If it is a question about your Business page, then could you please start a new thread with the details of your page, thank you.

(To start a new thread go to https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/Google-My-Business/ct-p/GMB, click on the Category name that is closest to your issue, and then click on the pink + sign at the bottom right).
