Hello,

When I search for Cliffside Park Chamber of Commerce the knowledge panel does not show to the right. The main website is www.cliffsideparkchamber.org and I am also trying to add the social media icons to the bottom as it appears on some searches. The business address is set and verified and the telephone is 201-335-0088 / The Link is: https://plus.google.com/115198379613248647251/posts?gmbpt=true&hl=en&_ga=1.150745278.9435170.1452098...

Thank you!

Hi @Cliffside Park C

It appears for me when I search.

In order for social media Icons to be eligible you need to use structured data markup.

Caveat: Social media icons tend to show only for high authority sites at the moment.

Checking your site in the structured data testing tool, you have no markup on site.

I would have your developer add organization schema to the site as well as SameAs data

https://schema.org/Organization

Note: The structured data has to actually appear physically on Page, this would mean the data that you marked up has to appear.

The easiest way to do this would be to add your full address and contact details in the Footer of your site, as well as your social media Icons.

Your Organisation schema would look something like this

<script type='application/ld+json'>
{
  "@context": "http://www.schema.org",
  "@type": "Organization",
  "name": "Cliffside Cliffside Park of Commerce",
  "url": "http://cliffsideparkchamber.org",
  "address": {
    "@type": "PostalAddress",
    "streetAddress": "525 Palisade Ave",
    "addressLocality": "Cliffside Park",
    "addressRegion": "NJ",
    "postalCode": "07010"
  },
   	"telephone": "(201) 335 0088",

  	"sameAs" : [ "https://plus.google.com/115198379613248647251/",
    "https://twitter.com/cliffsideparkcc",
    "https://www.linkedin.com/company/cliffside-park-chamber-of-commerce",
    "https://www.facebook.com/cliffsideparkchamber"]
	}
}
 </script>

I tested and all good, including your social BUT the details must be on Page.

The script above can be added into the footer.php file

One thing i would also get your dev to sort out is the fact that you have 2 version of home page displayed.

http://cliffsideparkchamber.org/
http://cliffsideparkchamber.org/index.php

I would get them to  >> redirect the /index.php version to main domain version

So a little bit of work to get on with. But please remember that the social media icons are only shown at the moment for authority sites

Good Afternoon,

Google doesn't display the social profile links in the Knowledge Graph card for local businesses even if you add structured data. Google displays the social profile links in the KG card displayed for well-known entities. See differences below in screenshots.

Hi @Grace

So your answer is forget about it because Google is not displaying them yet ?

I would rather, provide the OP with the means to add the structured data for when Google does decide to start rolling out to local business.

https://developers.google.com/structured-data/customize/social-profiles#include_your_social_profile_...

Here is a local business page that has social icons displayed.

And as I said to the OP, these are only shown for authority sites at the moment BUT they are displayed for local businesses.

Darn I was going to mention the exception but I forgot (sorry). If you look at the KG card displayed for Harrods it's a blend of the information typically extracted from the local listing but Google is also displaying info from the other KG (which is shown for well-known entities), for example, info extracted from Wiki (and other sources) like the description, founder etc. This type of information is not typically displayed in a KG card for local businesses.

If I gave the impression that you shouldn't markup the information I apologize that was not my intention (I'm a big believer in marking up all info as it pertains to the business because Google uses the information in various ways in search) but I didn't want you to think that in the here and now adding the markup would translate to Google displaying social profiles in the typical KG card displayed for local businesses because it's my understanding that is not the case.

I hope this extra information provides clarification.
