Noticed that the URL for our Google+ business page comes up "error 403" with the new changes.  We use the Yoast SEO plugin, is the G+ publisher tag still relevant?

Hi @Kim W

Yoast adds a link that you provide ?

Check what you have provided, all my sites correct.

Also Yoast is visible in source, not on page, so maybe you are looking in the wrong place.

Perhaps I did not ask this question correctly. Is the G+ (publisher) meta data still relevant? The company I work for represents roughly 80 businesses and some of the Storefront G+ links take me to error 403. Do we need to replace the old link URL's with the new G+ look urls? Then replace the urls within Yoast in Word Press? This is very confusing, because the old look and new look URL's are the same. Why would they be showing 403 errors?

This depends on what you were using for a URL before. In our case, we used the custom URL for the Google+ profile but we also provided a link to to write a review. We had to replace the review link on each page but the Google+ profile links were fine.

Hey @Kim W

Without a site to look at I could not tell you why your URL's are now 403.

Like I said, I have not had to change any of my sites or URL's including clients.

To answer your Questions: Do I still need them.

It depends !

1) Google still requires them if you are to appear in Google news snippets

2) If you don't have social media marked up in you schema with "sameas" - then you won't have social media icons appearing within the KP

So, I would say: Either use rel=publisher or "sameas" in your structured data
