Control over My Business Photos that appear in Google Maps

How are My Business images sorted for/in Google Maps?

Is there any way to get any manual control of what shows at the bottom?

Desired (high priority) images are not showing (or missing), but undesired (low priority) images are showing.

Nothing in the MyBusiness Help section in regards to this matter.

I was going to reference that article by Mike as well because the unfortunate truth is that these are generated algorithmically so all you really can do is make sure you're using really high-quality photos and hope for the best. There might be some tricks that help but I honestly haven't tested this.

If the photo is completely unrelated to your business (ex it's a photo of a competitor), there is a way to request removal.  Unfortunately if it's just a preference you can't get it removed.

I've wondered the same thing--but I don't have an answer. However, I HAVE discovered that you can add location data to your GMB photos from your Google + page. This includes titles and comments for the photo.

It sucks when stuff like this is undocumented but of course it's the one thing that the client wants an answer on asap.

Is it safe to assume it's random, or we'll never know more about this?
I saw this post (http://blumenthals.com/blog/2016/07/13/5-reasons-why-the-new-google-business-photos-image-search-suc...) and it didn't instil much hope.
