"Invalid formula" on any formula for a daily partitioned BigQuery table

Please help!! Trying to add very simple calculated fields in a daily partitioned BQ table to create weighted averages in a report, and getting generic "Invalid formula" error messages.

Is this a supported feature? any ideas how to work around it?

Works on any other data source and even the same data source when duplicating table from report_yyyymmdd (partitioned) to report_20170314_copy (static).

Thanks a lot,

Miki

Unfortunately I am experiencing the same problem.

In my situation I have a line such as, "user A did THIS from AN_IP". Doing a calculated field on something as simple as REGEXP_EXTRACT(textPayload, "^user") returns the generic error, "invalid formula".

Hi, can you share edit access to the data studio data source w/ data-studio-help@google.com along with a reference to this thread and we'll take a look?

Have the same issue here. Even a simple COUNT() formula get "Invalid formula" error.

Any update about this issue?

Thanks

@Zhihong H, can you share a screenshot of the field calculated with count() (formula and the type and aggregation of the field that you added in this formula) ?

Hi, Patrick,

Thanks for your reply. Attached is the screenshot, I block the fields with sensitive data . And the field I used with COUNT() function is simple as in the screenshot. The COUNT() works perfect in a new table which I got from a "SELECT field1, field2, .. FROM ..." query from this problem table. This problem table is generated by using view query as below:

SELECT
*,
DATE ('2017-05-09') AS _LATEST_DATE,
DATE (_PARTITIONTIME) AS _DATA_DATE
FROM `the_table_itself`invalid_formula.jpg

Hi, Vit,

No, I did not find a solution. And I work around this by select all columns from the issue table and saved to a new table. And use the new table as the datasource solve the problem.
