Your data isn't coming from GA, is it?

In a combo chart, it will draw whatever data is provided. Make sure the empty dates have a null value, and not zero - not sure, but this might help.

A time series would be better in this case, what kind of funny results did you get? If the data type is a date, it should work fine.

My original reports is here https://datastudio.google.com/open/0B7HUSiXOeSnCZlRLenM3Mk9NVE0

that's an excellent point, I can't find a way to return null instead of 0

is it possible in GDS to have something like if metric = 0 then null else metric.

I don't use GA, I am testing GDS as a potential BI solution, not there yet.

cheers

Then I'm 99.999% confident the problem is your data source actually includes a value - the absence of a value (i.e. null) is very different from a value of 0.

You could try creating a new calculate metric with "CASE WHEN metric = 0 THEN null ELSE metric END"

exactly you are right, the issue is:  case when do not support returning null, or at least i don't know how to do it, I opened an issue here
