Time series chart doesn't show all data (while table does)

I've got a problem with my time series charts. I got data from 01-01-2016 until now which I am trying to visualize in a chart. I created a new variable "Month". Which I set as dimension. The chart shows some of the data, but not all of it.

I double checked it with a table which does show data for all months. As you can see in the image below.

Anyone got an idea how to fix this?

db sales.jpgBelow is the time series chart. At the top, the table with exactly the same data.

Got a fix for this. What I did was:

1. Duplicate the original dimension

2. Change the Date Format to Month (MM)

This fixed the issue.

This means the month() function doesn't work properly if you want to use it time series charts.

Ok, got an update.

I added a new variable Quarter and used this in my time series chart.

Now, I do see all my data! It's not perfect, but at least it's something.

So, it seems like something is wrong with the Month() function.

Some people at Google who can clarify this perhaps?

I have observed the same behaviour. My graph only shows data from October to December (as it can be observed in the graph of Patrick).

Unfortunately, in my case, I want a temporal series using the MMDD (month-day) format

If I change the format to YYYYMMDD, all the data are shown, but I have data from several years that it's the reason why I want to use the MMDD format.

I think it could be related to regional settings.

Any suggestion?

This is my graph when showing all the data:

 alldata.jpg

I have duplicated my period dimension field and I have changed the format of the duplicated to MMDD. Then, I have changed the metric to use this new field, and this is what I'm obtaining:

fromoct.jpg

It's strange, because it's similar to the graph of Patrick previously in this post. The data only shows from October.

If I change the duplicated field format to MM, then it's working:

MM.jpg

My data come from public BigQuery datasets using timestamps.

I have made several changes as recommended here (https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/Data-Studio/Converting-a-date-to-the-correct-format-in-Dat...), but with no success.

Best regards,

Daniel

Is it really necessarry to have MMDD? Do you have data from several years which you want to aggregate? If not, you could try to use yyyymmdd as format.

I haven't found any other solutions...

Hi Patrick,

Yes, that's exactly the case (several years).

I have observed the same behaviour using Google Sheets. Data is only showed from October.

Regards,

Daniel.
