Pulling AdWords custom columns on Data Studio

Hello. I've created a Data Studio dashboard which pulls data from a Google AdWords account, but "custom columns" which were created in AdWords (campaigns tab) seem to be unavailable in Data Studio. It is an issue, since it means that Data Studio doesn't allow me to extract specific conversion names - for instance Installs, Leads, etc.

Do any of you know how to extract specific conversion names (as they were defined in AdWords) rather than just "conversions"?

Thanks

The Conversion Name dimension in AdWords is called Segment Conversion Type Name in Data Studio.

You should be able to add this dimension to your tables/graphs or use it in a filter to split out your different conversions.

Hi Eyal,

I have the same problem and would love to know how to import these custom columns. Hope to get an answer soon, the same with GA metrics from AdWords, I cannot see them in my reports.

Hi. I have the same problem here. The only work-around I could think of was deducting the conversions from all-conversions. Thus All conversions (transactions+store-visits) minus transactions. Hope this helps you out a bit.

That's also a way, unfortunately I have 3 types of conversions.

Thank you a lot for sharing! Hope they will fix it.

Thanks Sian.

I guess it wasn't available back in April.

Hi Sian,

I use to show my different Custom Conversions filtering as you mentioned.

It's very useful to subset for the metric Conversions, but I cannot see the correct value when applying to the metric Cost / conv.

Do you know why?

Many thanks!

The filter won't work when you try to apply it to metrics such as cost, impressions, clicks etc. or the associated ratio mertics, eg. cost/conv and conv rate. This is because there is no conversion information associated with these metrics on which to filter.

The only solution is to get the data into a Google Sheet and use that as your data source.

Hello Sian, thanks for the answer. I wanted to try that solution however, I have a difficulty adding Segment Conversion Type Name as a field. I understand that there must be a function but which function? I read some help and support documents but I don't need sum or average - just the value. How can I do that?

You don't need to add a custom field, the Segment Conversion Type Name is a built in dimensions with the AdWords connector.
