Percentage of two COUNT() metrics returns confusing result

I have two custom metrics that are counts of specific events from a BigQuery table of Firebase Analytics events. When I create a third property to display a ratio between the two as percentage, I get weird results.

Properties:

Acquisition Count = COUNT(First Open Timestamp)

Registration Count = SUM(CASE WHEN ( Event Name = 'kpi' AND Event Param Name = 'event_label' AND Event Param Value (String) = 'registration' ) THEN 1 ELSE 0 END )

Acquisition : Registration = (Registration Count / Acquisition Count)

Sample values:

Acquisition Count = 82,990

Registration Count = 40,729

Acquisition : Registration = 0.038 (as Number, to 3 decimal places)

Question:

Why is the result of 0.038 not the result of the simple math of 40,729 / 82,990, which equals 0.490?
