How to change the data source report-wide

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a way to change the data source throughout my report after all the components are made. I understand I can change the data source in each component individually but is there a way to do that for the entire report after all components are in place?

Thanks!

Joanne

Hey Joanne,

Give this a try:

1. Edit your report.

2. On right hand panel, select 'view report and theme settings'

3. Choose 'data' tab.

4. Make sure you select the 'data source' for the report - this seems to be the report-wide default.

5. Choose a report component on your page to edit e.g. a scorecard

6. On right hand panel,  select 'scorecard properties'

7. On the Data Source, if you delete the datasource for the component, it will now show "Default ('The name you set as the data source in step 4 above')"

You'll need to make sure each component on the page is set to use the default by repeating steps 5 to 7. Then if you change the default datasource for the report (step 4), each component should pick up the default datasource.

Hope that works.

Cheers,

Eddie

Sorry, data source are linked to individual component so you'll have to set them all manually.

Any likelihood that data studio will add that functionality? Especially since dates and filters can be changed report-wide for all components simultaneously.
