Dynamic Date (Today) in function formulas?

Hello Forum

I'm trying to see if it's possible to build a formula like this

(Cost)/(Today's Date in the month) = Avg. Daily Spend

today is 3/14/2017 and imported cost show $1000 spent since beginning of month.

so it should be:

($1000)/(14) = $71.43 Cost per day.

The "Today's Date in the month" should change based on what day it is today. is this possible?

Thanks for all the help!

Today() would be amazing.

However, I think it'll be harder than you think to implement.  Dates seem to sit between being a dimension and a metric. In functions, they seem to act as a dimension. Even when you force them to be metrics such as Week().  Try something simple such as Week(Date Value) - 1.  Generally comes up with zero.

However, you can order tables etc on Max(week(Date Value)).

Still no today() function? It's kind of a deal breaker...

such a bummer.   great tool, but without today(),  of limited value.   Anyone have any luck with this?  Any workarounds?

Still no solution? How can I built a dashboard when I constantly have to set the filters manually?

You shouldn't have to constantly have change filters manually, the date filter can be defaulted to today's date and the metrics can run off that.

This would be great for my use case too - I need to count the number of things scheduled to happen in the future.  Hard to do if I can't determine now.
