Is there a way to hide dates in a time series report where the metric is 0?

Can you post a screenshot?

Note: it is possible to hide the Axis, or use a Stacked Bar chart which references 2 fields. The first field will take presidence so it can be used to hide the second field.

See these example:

If your problem is the visual and you're using a line chart and don't want to see the line drop to 0, there's a workaround: you can go to the "Style" tab for the "Properties" menu of the chart, and in the section "Missing Data" (2nd main section), select "Linear Interpolation."

This is a screenshot of the bar chart. The source data has multiple dates (some times the there are multiple dates for the same metric), but some dates are not in the source data (hence the null value). I don't want to show those dates.

Hi David,

Not sure if this is still an issue for you but I thought I would respond just in case:

This is what I'd call a "data clean up" problem (your data isn't completely regular). So the solution is to either clean it at the source (your data set, which might be hard or impossible) or in the data source, which might be easier. You could try something like this:

Create a calculated field called "Blank or not" (choose your own name ;-)

For the formula, put: CASE WHEN Date  IS null then "blank" else "not blank" END

In your report, you can now filter the time series to exclude the Blank or not field when it is "blank".

There might be a better way to do this, but that's what springs to mind Smiley Happy

Hope this helps!

Rick

Hi David,

here is my solution:

1) Add a Filter and then fill the form with:

Exclude

Select Dimension (ex. "Date")

Select "Equal to (=)"

Write Expression "null"

Name "-null"

Then click "Create"

Hope this help

Good luck!

=)
