Data Range Issue: Data Studio does not recognize YYYYMM as a Data Range Dimension???

I´m connecting my report to a custom query in bigquery and I´m interested only in monthly activities. So I set my time dimension to YYYYMM format and when I did that my data range did not work. It seems I´m forced to take a daily time dimension to make the data range works. I´ve already trick it by making the query on a daily basis and then reconnect it changing the date format in the query to YYYYMM format, but it is kind of messy and doesn´t seems like a good practice.

What is the format of your Date dimension natively in BigQuery?

Easiest thing is to do the Monthly aggregation in the query directly instead of trying to get DS to do it.

I did that and then DS did not recognize my time dimension as a data range dimension.

My query is something like this

SELECT
REPLACE(LEFT(DATE(Purchase.created_on),7),'-','') AS YYYYMM,
COUNT(DISTINCT Purchase.who.id) AS MAU

FROM
...
GROUP BY 1
ORDER BY 1 ASC;
