Hi @Hosein A :-)
It should be added to all website pages, before the closing </head> tag.

If your site uses something like WordPress or Joomla, then usually there are plugins for doing this so as to not have to be hard editing theme or template files which can break the site.

Best thing to do is refer to the support files for your hosting, to see if they have a specific method for adding Google Analytics tracking.

Hi! Smiley Happy

What if the website you have to analyze is not your but a competitor. Can you place the code to use google analytics?

@Javier P

The website owner needs to give you access to the website source code so as to edit it or whatever mechanism is used to add tracking code to their site... so the answer to that would be no.

Thank you, Bronwyn!

So, If the website owner doesn't give you access, there is not a way you can analyze that website? How marketers do it then? Is there an alternative?

Thanks.

You might find the GA benchmarking reports helpful
https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6086666?hl=en

Most alternatives are paid tools semrush is first one that comes to mind.

If you do a google search for - how to do online competitor analysis

it should return results with articles about how to and what tools are available

for different aspects of doing an online analysis
