Why isn’t my Google Analytics tracking code collecting data like it should?
There can be a number of reasons why your tracking code isn’t working as intended:
- If you’ve just added Google Analytics tracking code to your website, it’s possible that the code hasn’t had enough time to collect data. Be sure to give it at least a couple hours and check back to see if data appears in your reports.
- Make sure you’re using the correct snippet on your website and the associated account or view
- Make sure you have not added any extra whitespace or characters in the tracking code snippet. You can avoid this by copying and pasting the tracking code snippet directly onto your website using a text editor that preserves code formatting. For instance, pasting it into word processing software could alter the formatting and break the tracking code.
