Why do some of my locations show up in my reports as “(not set)”?

Any time you see “(not set)” in a report, that means that for some reason, the information was not able to be collected. In the Locations report for instance, this means that GA could not determine the location based on the user’s IP address. This could occur if a user is using software that blocks their IP address from being recorded.

Can you think of any other reasons you may be seeing “(not set)” in your reports? Respond or add a new post below!

Google Analytics uses a third-party datasource to determine your visitors' geographical locations. If our third-party vendor does not have an accurate record of the visitor location, Google Analytics displays a (not set) entry.
