Warehouse and Multiple Location Issue

1. Dot Foods, Inc.

2. Multiple addresses, headquarters - 1 Dot Way, Mt Sterling, IL 62353

3. 855-424-3159

Our Problem – Our different locations’ categories are listed incorrectly, some are listed as grocery stores, supermarkets, etc.  We can correct this information by verifying our business with Google My Business but, Google is saying we cannot “claim and verify” these locations because they are warehouses.

(Although I think warehouse is a sticky term, as we have many Administrative/Support staff positions and departments at each location)

Initial Solution Given – To delete all warehouse location pages and only claim our headquarters (Mt. Sterling, IL location)

Solution We Need – We need to have all our locations listed on Google for recruiting purposes, but with the correct category and information.

I think the underlining issue is we are not sure how to define our business on Google.  We are a re-distributor with multiple locations and warehouses. Does this makes us a service, a brand, etc and then how do we move forward and get our information correct.

Hi @Dot F,

Thanks for writing! I understand how this can be a bit of a tricky spot to be in. I would advise trying this "test" of sorts to determine if each of your warehouse locations are eligible to have their own Google My Business listing: do each of these locations serve customers face to face at the location during stated business hours? If this is true, then you should be able to claim and verify them.

Would you be able to send through the links to each page if you need further help? Unfortunately, I'm not able to get to your individual pages per the link that you sent.

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for responding! I applied for bulk verification a few weeks ago and was denied because we do not serve customers face-to-face at any of our locations, even our headquarters. We deliver products to our customers. Would that make us a service? The tricky part there is we service the whole U.S. from all of our locations, as products transfer from warehouse to warehouse - so we really don't have a truly defined "service area" for each location.

See below for what I believe are the page links. Let me know if this is not not what you are looking for. Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks so much for the additional context and links--that's exactly what I was looking for. After checking out the links that you sent through, it sounds like you are unfortunately not eligible for pages for each of your locations per our guidelines:
Eligible businesses
In order to qualify for a local Google+ page, a business must make in-person contact with customers during its stated hours.

Full guidelines can be found here:

You may, however, be eligible for service area businesses for each of those locations. You're not able to go through the bulk verification process, but from your description, it sounds like you could verify each location individually as a service area business:

Regarding serving the entire US, perhaps you could determine what area of the US each location serves, then set the service area as such?

Let me know if that all makes sense, and if you have any further questions.
