Service Areas Missing

Hello,

We manage a chain of HVAC companies under one account. Each location has it's own service areas set as zip codes and cities. I logged into each location last night and all of my locations have been set at non service area businesses and my service areas have been removed. Do you know why this may have happened? We did not make this change.

Thank you,

Krystina

Per Google the reason that your work around works is that the service area option is not available to bulk uploads thus it is not visible in the list view. If you view the listing in the Card View then you will see the option.

Glad you found the work around

Locations view

You can view your locations as cards, a list, or a map. Above your locations on the right side of the screen:

  • To switch to a list, click the list icon .
  • To switch to cards, click the cards icon  .
  • To switch to a map, click the map icon .

@Local Team

at or near the address I see several bsuinesses in their own buildings.

Because of this I have at first the question

Have you created previously  the listing as a service area lsiting with hidden address (unseledting "I also serve customers at my business adress")

If so:

what happens now if you do this again and resubmit the lsiting?

Hello,

All locations were marked "I also serve customers at my business address" with visible addresses. They are all service area businesses but they need a visible address because customers can come into the office to pay bills or schedule appointments. Each location was marked as both and had a visible address and their own separate services areas which were listed by city or zip code for each location separately. When I went to check on a service area for a location last week I noticed that the cities were no longer listed for each location and the box was unchecked (now making them look like walk-in locations only) - this was the case with all locations for that business.

I have not attempted to add them again because I wasn't sure if it was removed for a reason. We manage a lot of service area businesses and I've never seen this before. Google will update the address, phone number, and categories if they receive a suggested edit or find conflicting information. I wasn't sure if they pulled our service areas out. We would not have removed the cities, we put a lot of time into mapping out the individual service areas for each location and manually entered the info for all of them. I'm concerned that if we take the time to do this again that they'll be removed again.

I've just discovered the same thing with another client. Their service areas seem to be missing. The ability to mark "i serve customers at my location" is also missing.

Here is one with the option to select "I deliver goods and services to my customers"

http://www.screencast.com/t/2UBA2NwgSm

Here is a client that is a service area/retail location - the option and previously listed service areas are gone:

Could this have something to do with the new Attributes / Offerings feature?

Thank you. Yes, I'm aware of this. All of the locations we manage have always been marked with that and also listed service areas by city. The option to check that box is missing. If you can open the screencast links, I've shown examples of a listing with the option and another one that no longer has the option.

I'm not sure if it's a bug or if there is a reason why I no longer have the option to choose a service area. I'm finding that this option is missing on many listings that have always had service areas listed.

we never can exclude any bugs on Googles end.

But I doubt it has to do withg lauching the attributes.

However your screengrabs show only fo the first one the  possibility to define service area.

The second screenshot doesn't show this option.

But before escalating this as an issue to Google:

Can you please double check its not an browser related issues (trying the same with an other browser please)

or

are you perhaps trying to edit through the GMB app on a mobile device?

I just looked at some locations from a new browser. I'm seeing the same thing. Service area businesses without the service area or the option to add one.

Ok, I've just discovered a work-around. Not sure why this is the case though.

If I go to the classic G+ profile then the edit page, I can see the services areas and edit them. So strange.

If I access the edit page through https://business.google.com - That's when the options are missing.
