Clarification needed on multiple "Departments within other business"

In the example provided in the guidelines,

"Publicly-facing departments that operate as distinct entities should have their own page. The exact name of each department must be different from that of the main business and that of other departments. Typically such departments have a separate customer entrance and should each have distinct categories."

  • The main business "Wells Fargo" has the category "Bank" whereas the department "Wells Fargo Advisors" has the category "Financial Consultant"

If Wells Fargo also offered Insurance Services for example, would they be allowed to have a separate listing for that?

What about Mortgage Services, Currency Exchange, etc. Is there a limit to the number of listings they can have as long as they meet the requirement of having a different name and category?

Great question. Have seen similar to Walgreens having listings for both grocery and pharmacy.

There is no hard and fast rule published...best default position is to stick with a listing associated to the category your business is most known for and under that, select secondary categories / attributes.

Worth a small local market-wide test in your GMB account, watch for ranking impact and listing insights drops/spikes.
