account suspended

Created an ad words account back in 2012 and got suspended right away. It was an affiliate website but I tried to make it follow The Affiliate Guidelines published by Google. The only violation that I can see could be related to poor content (did not add enough value). However, I don't see this by itself as an egregious violation.

My brother created the account in Europe and he was the administrator and I had the standard access (from US).  All the billing and payment info was in the US on my name.

First mistake - Tax Status was put as Business and not as Individual. There was no legal business entity registered both with that name and on my address.

Second - Google gave me a credit of $100 when I opened the account and then tried to authorize or charge my bank and cc six times and it got declined. Google did not tell me this, I didn't suspect it because first I had a credit without any activity on the account and second my payment info was valid (I called CHASE but they could not look so far back to tell me why it was declined)

All this was happening while my account was reviewed for the first time. Answer was that my account was suspended.

"Your account is suspended - We've identified suspicious behavior in the payment activity of this or your other AdWords accounts. To help prevent any unauthorized activity, we suspended your AdWords accounts"

We do not own the domain anymore. I updated my payment info and spoke with Chase about the issue.

I can not change the tax status.

Question 1: Do you see these as enough reasons to be suspended?

Question 2: Do I have any chance to clear my name and be able to use Google Adwords again? I am in the process to create a new brand.

This is the last e-mail I got after many unsuccessful attempts to remedy the situation.

Hi,

Thanks for your continued patience during this process. Our specialists have re-reviewed the account and confirmed that it is in violation of our AdWords policies. Since this decision is final, the account will not be reinstated. Please avoid creating additional AdWords accounts, as they will be subjected to the same suspension.

Our support team will not be able to give you any more specifics on the suspension.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,
AdWords Support Team

Hello Sabinfarcas76,

Welcome to the AdWords Community.

Thanks for this detailed explanation. Now to your questions-

Do you see these as enough reasons to be suspended? - Yes (far more than enough)

You said Google tried to charge you. It must have been because your account spends might have exceeded the credits you were given. You said Google did not notify you. It's almost impossible.

You could always check all the spend details by accessing 'Billing' section of your AdWords account.

About notifications, the registered email of the account always gets such notifications. In your case, as your brother created the account and he was the administrator, he must have got them all.

You agreed that Google tried to charge 6 times, the account administrator must have been made aware of it every time by email notifications.

So, yes, the reasons were more than enough for causing your account to be permanently suspended.

Now, there's NO way it can be reinstated.

To your next question, as you said you are going with a new business and brand, you may be able to use AdWords only if you make sure you do not repeat your previous mistakes and abide by all other AdWords guidelines, terms & conditions. Make sure you read all all the Policies Related to Adwords carefully.

Hope it helps.

Thanks

Ratan

Thank you Ratan. I really appreciate your answer, it clarifies a lot of my questions. But If I launch a new business (new domain, new business name, different product, no affiliate) wouldn't my name, address be associated with a suspended account? I had standard access to that account and my payment and billing info. Google says will suspend any related account. To be honest this is like you get jail for life by a prosecutor without jury, defense and judge. It was a negligence on our side I agree, but be banned for life?

Thank you

This is one of the unfortunate cases we encounter from time to time, in which undesired sequence of events lead to a suspension, but there is nothing much to do.

First due to the numerous billing  violations and  second, In order to appeal you'll first have to fix the affiliate sites - which you eventually can't do

The bottom line:  you or your businesses cannot advertise with Google. (Currently the ban is for good.)

I am sorry, but we cannot help.

As I tell others: the ocean is big, and though Google is a major  player, there are other channels in which you could promote the business.

I can buy back the domain, recreate the website, double triple check everything to be in line with Advertising Policies and appeal. But the problem was in my payment/account information. I can not change the tax status from business to individual, it does not allow me. The payment sources I already changed and spoke with CHASE. I would do it if I know I have a chance to be unsuspended.

Thank you Moshe

The same domain I had before; I let it expire and not renewed in 2013.

You are not clear: You had an issue with affiliate domain which you don't control need a billing issue.... Can you fix the affiliate site?

It was just one affiliate website we had in 2012 when we were banned. Now I don't have the domain anymore. I can buy it back (it is still available) and host the same website again. I can do changes to the website but there is nothing to fix in my opinion. The problem was in the declined payment and non existent legal business entity (it should have been registered as individual when account was created not as business tax status). In my opinion (because Google never told me) I will have to change tax status to individual (which I can't) and update payment info which I did.

Hello again;
Google rechecked your case. Google is unwilling to reinstate the account due to billing issues.
It seems that there is nothing else to be done. And you cannot promote your business on Google.
I am sorry!
