Misleading ad led me to sign up for AdWords. Customer support hung up on me. Who can help?
I responded to an email offering 2 free months of AdWords for my business. Within 2 weeks I recieved an email telling me I was being charged for ads. Then I was sent an email stating that my account would be cancelled because I didn't pay. Now I'm told that I have to pay anyway. What the heck? The terms and conditions are very cryptic in their explanation of how this promotion works and do not clearly communicate that you are actually expected to pay up front. If I had known, I wouldn't have signed up for the promotion. I thought the idea was to let you see that AdWords actually works - something I was very skeptical of and wanted to see proof of before I invested $. (And by the way - it didn't.)
To make matters worse, when I tried to get help to address the problem there was no one readily available to help me. Human help with billing issues is VERY hard to track down. It took me two weeks, but I was finally able to speak to a person. Unfortunately, he just said it was too bad that I didn't understand the terms and conditions and that I had to pay the outstanding balance that I didn't even know I was accumulating. Then he hung up on me.
So, you mislead customers into signing up for a service, bill them without letting them know they're being charged for services, then hang up on them when they try to get what they signed up for? This is classic "bait and switch" and if your employee doesn't want to speak to me about it maybe the Better Business Bureau will.
