  1. My newly appointed Google Account manager and Content specialist manage an account I just created.
  2. I deposit $15,000 with no issues.
  3. I run tests prior to launching a multi-million dollar product launch but the tests stop running after 1,000 impressions.
  4. Google says not to worry.
  5. My account gets Suspended.  Within my account, I see a message: “Google AdWords account has been suspended because your billing information in this or a related account could not be verified"
  6. I am trying to figure out how I can verify the information they need.  It doesn’t make sense since I’m using my company debit card and the $15,000 transferred with no issues.
  7. I can no longer reach a live person from Google and my account reps are not responding to my email or calls.
  8. I expressed to Google that I am launching within a few days and this is going to create $millions in damages.
  9. I get an automated response stating “While reviewing your account, we found violations of our AdWords policies in this or a related account. As a result, your account has unfortunately been suspended, and your ads will no longer run on Google.”
  10. Google’s response conflicts with the message I see from my account page.  Maybe they are simply trying to cover their butt in some way.
  11. All appeals get the same exact auto generated email from step 9.
  12. Google has made mistakes, neglected my account, and has shown zero interest in correcting their own mistakes… or even trying to figure out why it is not verified.
  13. Maybe this is one of the reasons why they quietly dropped their motto “Don’t Be Evil”.

I may have to tell thousands of people that we’re not launching tomorrow or suffer from a slow launch.  I will follow up with a call to my lawyer and file a multimillion dollar lawsuit against Google and the individual employees involved.  I’d prefer to simply speak to someone so they see their mistake.  It would be great if they would fix the issue so we can enjoy a growing relationship with Google, but they refuse to even try to solve their mistakes and neglect.  It’s very unfortunate, and extremely ARROGANT.  Maybe it’s time to check out Bing.  AdSense seems to have some great products too.  I see their symbol everywhere.  For Video ads, BrightRoll is a very helpful company that serves just as much video ads as Google.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I'm still having major problems having my ads served. Regarding the suspension, I did get a call back after pushing hard for about a week explaining that the issue is a time sensitive problem and is causing substantial damage. The Google rep asked me about 5 minutes worth of questions to confirm that there were no issues then removed the suspension.

Every day my ads are not serving, I encounter more and more damages. I still have $15,000 in the account. My limit is currently set to $2,500 per day but about a dollar or less is actually being spent on the ads right now. I tried adding another target by opening up the search, but that didn't solve the problem.

It's extremely frustrating to work around the clock for a year sacrificing family, health, life, etc. to create a truly amazing product then see the Kickstarter project go down in flames because of these completely avoidable issues.

For the record, here's a link to the Kickstarter project. We have organically raised more than $23,000 in a matter of days. Our backers are very excited about the product. Unfortunately, I still can't increase awareness because Google has yet to serve the ads. Like the suspension, maybe that will change with this post.

Honestly, I don't quite understand the current situation;
The suspension was removed, and now you are trying to promote your product on kickstarter.com, and no ad impressions Do I understand it correctly?

Sorry for not being clearer. Yes, the suspension was lifted and I am getting almost zero ad impressions.

7/30 - 418 impressions with a $2,500 budget
7/31 - 39 impressions with a $2,500 budget

And are promoting your landing page on kickstarter.com? (the page you linked) - or another website?

Since it's a Google video ad, I direct them to the video. There is an annotation within the video directing people to the Kickstarter page.

Update: Still not working. Today, my ad has received 44 impressions. Yesterday, I sent a few emails to my Google rep and received no response.

Two points in question:

  • The targeting methods you are using on the display network; (e.g. placements; keywords; topics...)
  • And  please note, that promoting a page on kickstarter.com is a violation of the "solicitation of funds " section of the Policy. So, when the Google's bot rechecks your account, the account will probably be suspended....

  1. I have 2 targeting groups running.  The two videos are linked to both groups.
  • “Target people watching content” check box is checked
  • “Viewing Videos about” includes:
    • Computers & Electronics > Consumer Electronics > Gadgets & Portable Electronics« removeComputers & Electronics > Software > Operating Systems > Mobile OS > Apple iOS« removeBusiness & Industrial > Business Finance« removeComputers & Electronics > Software > Operating Systems > Mobile OS > Android OS« removeInternet & Telecom > Mobile & Wireless« removeOnline Communities > Blogging Resources & Services« remove
    • Demographic is set to anyone
    • Interest is set to Any Interest
    • No advanced settings set (i.e. No placements & No content words)
    • “Target people who are searching” is unchecked
    • Predicted views: 20,000 - 80,000 views per day

2.  I have confirmed that promoting my Kickstarter project would not be a problem with TWO GOOGLE REPS PRIOR TO STARTING THE CAMPAIGN.  This was the first question I asked.  I also spoke with a THIRD Google rep when having the account reinstated and explained which site I was promoting.

Of course, technically, I am only given the option to promote either my channel or video page.  I promote the video page.  YouTube allows for annotations to be added.  These annotations are allowed by YouTube to link to Kickstarter.  So technically, the bots will not suspend the account because I am promoting the YouTube Video.

Are you stating that soliciting funds for a product violates policy?  Isn’t that the purpose of an ad… to solicit funds for a product?  I would appreciate more information pertaining to your second point because I cannot distinguish the difference between my ad and every other ad.

Thanks,

Daniel
